Literature- A Bridge Across Difference
Contact, Dialogue & Reconciliation
Bringing together all of the groups both north and south who have already participated in the previous Peace Impact Project, the programme will also be open to the general reading public.
It will have central reconciliation themes and a “Let’s Work Together”approach.
The programme will include:
Authors form both north and south whose work has been studied during the Project.Discussion groups and workshops on their works.
Contributions from people who played significant roles in either political, religious or social life during the conflict.
Exposure to the common rural traditions shared by people of different religious/political persuasions.
A theme “Borders” is selected and the choice of books will be relevant to the theme. The librarians from Cavan, Leitrim, Fermanagh & Tyrone will reach out to Readers Groups in their areas and will assist and develop events between groups on a cross border and cross community basis. We will also be working with Fermanagh Omagh District Council, Leitrim & Cavan County Council, therefore we will be able to reach out to greater numbers of
participants.
A major cross border cross community two-day Conference will be organised to conclude these events.
Real progress in relation to shared vision can be achieved by the sensitive use of dialogue to explore conflict and future engagement.
To Utilise the Library Network to engage the people: Libraries in Fermanagh, Omagh, Cavan and Leitrim are already on board to assist in the deliverance of this project.
